Fleet
The heart of the Tyco Telecommunications cable ship fleet is the group of six Reliance Class vessels. Specifically designed and constructed for cable maintenance and construction, these ships are the most versatile and capable cable ships in the industry.
At 140 meters in length, the powerful, dynamically positioned vessels are capable of sustained cable operations in harsh weather conditions. Each vessel is typically outfitted with a Perry Tritech ST200 series remotely operated vehicle and either 1.5-meter or 3-meter capable sea plow. VSAT communications equipment ensures that broadband connectivity is available to her crew while the vessel is deployed. The unique arrangement of twin cable drums and a linear cable engine provides redundancy and flexibility to install and repair any existing cable system.
Tyco Telecommunications’ fleet crews are comprised of highly trained and experienced merchant mariners, submersible engineers, and cable operations staff. In addition to typical cable construction and maintenance activities, the cable ships provide excellent platforms for trenching, mattressing, and salvage operations.
