Undersea Network
Modeling Tool
SubCom’s long-length ocean simulator supports the development of
advanced undersea cable technology. The tool is verified against many laboratory test
bed experiments, field trials, and full-capacity demonstrations on installed systems.
This state-of-the-art, proprietary computer modeling tool is used for the design of
dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) communication systems and offers
many benefits, including:
- Qualification to model systems over 12,000 km in length, point-to-point and
branched networks
- Accurate representation of the physics affecting optical signal propagation
- Accurate modeling of various modulation formats, including polarization
multiplexed signals
- Excellent accuracy in predicting channel performance for new systems and
upgrades
- The capture of a broad range of transmission and amplifier technologies from
legacy systems and new research initiatives
